Experiential Learning at WIU

Thank you for taking the time to complete this short 3-4 minute survey. We will use this data to improve our Experiential Learning customer service both internally and externally with students and our community partners.

Experiential Learning includes many ways of gaining real world experience between a student and a business or organization and can take many different forms including the following:
  • Job shadowing/Externship – typically an unpaid job shadowing experience
  • Internship– work for a defined period of time in order to gain work experience
  • Project work completed for a business or organization (individual or group)
  • Capstone project -a multi-faceted project that serves as a culminating academic and intellectual experience
  • Cooperative experience - a structured method of combining classroom-based education with practical work experience. A cooperative education experience, commonly known as a "co-op", provides academic credit for structured job experience.
