Butte County Septic Ordinance and Manual Update
We Need Your Input

Butte County Public Health is reviewing and updating the County's local rules and guidance for on-site wastewater treatment (septic) systems (OWTS) (Butte County Code Chapter 19B and OWTS Manual). The goal is to make sure they reflect current standards, protect water resources, and support the health and wellbeing of our community. This project is expected to continue through 2028, with opportunities for public input along the way (see the Well & Septic Ordinance Update webpage for details).

Whether you are a septic system user, an industry professional, or a community resident, we want to hear from you. Tell us what’s working well, what challenges you've experienced, and what changes you'd like to see. Your feedback will help identify priorities and guide future updates to the County’s septic requirements and guidance.

Survey responses are anonymous. Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts – we appreciate it!
