Catholic Rural Business Award: Criteria and Nomination Form
Catholic Charities of the Diocese of St. Cloud would like to honor Catholic rural business owners who demonstrate their Catholic faith in the workplace and their communities.
If you would like to nominate a business for the Catholic Rural Business Award, please see below for nomination criteria and fill out the form completely.
NECESSARY QUALIFICATIONS FOR A NOMINEE:
1. Nominees must currently own a rural business within the Diocese of St. Cloud.
2. Nominees must currently live within the Diocese of St. Cloud and be a member of one of its parishes.
3. Nominees must lead with and demonstrate their Catholic faith within their place of business and community, as seen through demonstrating the following:
- Catholic values in all areas of their life: The Business Owner demonstrates a commitment to their Catholic Faith, and bears witness to the mission of the church through their conduct and contributions to their church community through leadership roles, group involvement or parish activities.
- Service to rural community: The business owner demonstrates a commitment and involvement in rural communities beyond family and church; they may be involved in organizations that promote and maintain rural life, such as township or co-op boards, 4-H, etc. The business owner may have a respected reputation for supporting rural life by some or all of the following:
- Stewardship: practice and/or promote stewardship of God’s creation
- Advocacy: speaks and acts on behalf of issues and needs of rural life
- Support: Advancing the Common Good by providing support for rural life and community members.
- Commitment to supporting the dignity of their employees and customers:
- Upholds the dignity of employees through just wages and workplace practices that promote human flourishing.
- Viewed as a compassionate and caring person who values and respects employees and their families as well as their customers.
SELECTION COMMITTEE IS LOOKING FOR:
How does this nominee lead with and demonstrate their Catholic faith in their business — through their character, behavior, actions, and leadership — in an exemplary manner?
This nomination form is your opportunity to provide the selection committee with an impression of who your nominee is. Please feel free to use anecdotes and specific examples as a means of conveying why your nominee should be selected for this award. Consider asking others (employees, clients, co-workers) who may be familiar with the nominee for their thoughts and examples to include in your answers as well.

Catholic Rural Business Award nominations are due by: June 15th for award recognition at this year’s Rural Life Celebration on Sunday, August 18, 2024.
