Bushy Park and Glenora Community Survey

Thank you for participating in our survey. Your feedback is important.
Derwent Valley Council has met with the Upper Derwent Valley community twice in 2026 to discuss the future of the Bushy Park War Memorial Pool site. Council has been clear that it cannot reopen the pool due to a combination of regulatory and planning constraints, the loss of vehicle access caused by the Styx River bridge works, the pool being well beyond its operational life, and the lack of a viable business case for reopening. Council has acknowledged that past commitments to reopen the pool should not have been made, and apologises for the impact this has had on the community.

Council recognises that the pool site is an important gathering place and we want to work with the community to decide what comes next for the site, for the war memorial, and for Bushy Park and Glenora more broadly.

At both meetings, residents shared strong views on community health and wellbeing, youth engagement and safety, green space, the memorial, and wider infrastructure needs like footpaths and speed limits.

This survey is your opportunity to help shape the priorities. Your responses, along with the ideas raised at the two community meetings, will be used to develop a list of priorities for Bushy Park and Glenora, to help inform Councils’ strategic direction to support the Bushy Park and Glenora communities.
