Travel bursary - open applications

Thanks to players of The National Lottery and The National Lottery Heritage Fund, we are able to launch a bursary programme.

The programme will support travel and accommodation to increase your understanding, knowledge and skills of sporting heritage to take back to your day to day practice.

Applicants must demonstrate that the activity would be impossible without this financial support, and outline the impact this activity would have on their work and that of the collection they work with.

We want to make the scheme work for you and support your future practice with the minimal amount of time and cost.
Individuals may apply for support to cover all or any of the following:
  • standard train fare / bus fare or mileage at 45p per mile up to a maximum of £150
  • basic accommodation up to two nights and a value of £75 per night where travel to and from the venue is impossible in one day
  • Funding requests should total no more that £250.
Funding will be paid in arrears on receipt of an invoice made to Sporting Heritage with the attachment of all associated receipts and supporting documents.
We expect applications to the travel bursary scheme to be exceed the funding we have available.
Applications are open on a rolling basis and funding will be allocated at quarterly intervals or, in rare instances where there is an urgent need to access funding, to accommodate need.
