In 2032, Brisbane and Queensland will host the Olympic and Paralympic Games (the Games), bringing together top athletes from around the world to compete at the highest level.
The Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Organising Committee (Brisbane 2032) is working to make sure the Games are sustainable, inclusive, and create long-term benefits.
This survey will help us gather insights into how people with disability experience sporting and live events. These insights will support Brisbane 2032 in planning and delivering inclusive and accessible events and initiatives, and inform the development of the Brisbane 2032 Disability Inclusion Action Plan.
Survey responses may be published as part of a data summary, but will not be individually attributed to individuals in our publications. Please do not include any personal information or other identifying data about you or any other person in the free-text spaces.
We’d like to hear from anybody with disability, as well as their support people and companions. We would like to understand what works well and what doesn’t when you’re attending events. This doesn’t just mean sporting events; we’d like to hear about your experiences going to festivals, concerts, community celebrations, community markets, and live performances.
The information that you share will help us to understand:
- What makes events accessible and inclusive
- Common barriers and challenges
- Areas that Brisbane 2032 should focus on as planning for the Games continues
During the survey, we’ll ask you about your experiences with accessibility and inclusion at events. For the purposes of this survey:
- Accessibility means how easy it is for people to get to events, move around, understand information, and take part in activities
- Inclusion means how welcomed, respected, safe, and comfortable people feel when attending events, and whether they feel they belong
- An event is an organised activity or occasion where people come together at a specific place and time to experience something happening in real time
Brisbane 2032 is responsible for some parts of planning and delivering the Games. This includes delivering the sports, managing volunteers, torch relays, partnerships, tickets, hospitality, temporary venue infrastructure (such as stands, stages, event spaces, fencing and signage) and ceremonies.
Other parts, including the upgrade and building of new permanent infrastructure (such as stadiums, roads, transport, and hotels) and elements of the broader Games experience, are managed by other organisations.
