SBS' capacity-building programs are open to NYC-certified M/WBEs and small businesses eligible to apply to be certified as such, located in the NYC and surrounding area, and who fulfill the eligibility criteria for the program (see Bond Readiness program website for more program details).
 
The Bond Readiness program is designed for firms in the construction industry who are interested in doing business with the City of New York and are seeking surety bonding or to increase current bonding capacity.  Accepted participants will be expected to attend all respective classes, a QuickBooks clinic, and one-on-one mentoring/counseling sessions over a multi-week period.  Class sessions will be held every other Tuesday evening from 6:00pm - 8:00/8:30pm.  A syllabus will be provided at the first class session.
 
Deadline to apply is Friday, October 8, 2021.  Program classes are scheduled to start on Tuesday, October 19, 2021 and will be held virtually.

Program eligibility - applicant:
  • Is the owner (or part owner with decision-making authority) of a construction or trade firm 
  • Is a small business or preferably, is certified by NYC as a M/WBE, or is eligible to apply for NYC M/WBE certification as described at www.nyc.gov/getcertified
  • Has been in operation for at least two years
  • Has minimum annual revenues of at least $150,000
  • Has commercial or government project experience
  • Preferably, has at least two employees (two includes owner)
  • Can commit to the 24+-week engagement period of the Program
