Welcome to the Blu-RAY Survey and thank you for participating. This survey is part of a nationwide study that explores the perceived and experienced effects of blue light and light pollution on people, animals, and the environment. It has no known health and safety risks.

Completing the survey should take approximately 15 minutes.

What is Blu-RAY:
In recent years, LED lighting has become more common due to its energy efficiency. However, LEDs give off more blue light than older bulbs, which may affect human health and the environment. Blue light can interfere with sleep, eye health, and natural body rhythms, and may also impact wildlife and ecosystems. This study aims to understand how indoor and outdoor LED exposure affects people - especially children, young adults, and night workers - and the environment. The findings will help inform future guidelines and policies in Ireland to reduce potential risks linked to blue-light exposure.

What information are we asking for:
1. Demographic Information
We’ll ask about general background details like your age, gender, and where you live. This helps us understand who is taking part in the survey and whether different groups of people experience things differently.
2. General Light Perception
We’ll ask about your personal experiences and beliefs about how different types of light affect your sleep, health, and the environment. Light can have a big impact on how we sleep, how we feel physically and mentally, and even on the world around us. Your answers will help us understand how people perceive these effects in everyday life.
3. Personal Light Exposure and Light Pollution
We’ll ask how much natural and artificial light you’re exposed to in your daily life, both indoors and outdoors, and how you interact with it. The amount and type of light you’re exposed to can affect your sleep, health, and daily routines. It can also influence your environment, including wildlife and ecosystems. By understanding your habits and surroundings, we can explore how light exposure and light pollution impact people and communities
4. Vision
We’ll ask about your eyesight, including whether you use glasses or have any vision conditions. Vision can influence how light is perceived and how it affects your daily life, so it’s important for understanding your responses.
5. Sleep and Well-being
We’ll ask about your sleep patterns, how rested you feel, and your general well-being. Light and sleep are closely connected. Understanding your sleep and well-being helps us explore how light exposure might be influencing your health.

Your Privacy
Your responses in this survey are not identifiable to the research team. This means the research team will not be able to identify you, and we will not collect any direct personal information such as your name, IP address, or email.

However, the survey does ask for some personal information - like your age, gender, job role, and general location. On their own, these details don’t identify y
