Be part of an exciting opportunity to connect with local Youth!

Imagine YOUR neighborhood: whether that be the Eastside neighborhood, Northside neighborhood, Vine neighborhood, or Edison neighborhood filled with families participating in a festival celebrating community with local law enforcement officers being illustrated in a positive light. The Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety POP-UP block party events address challenged neighborhood areas or housing complexes that need support. The event format is to create activities that purposefully place officers in places that give them the opportunity to chat with children. Consequently, creating conversations and opportunities that builds meaningful relationships with KDPS officers, through handing out tickets that kids win and helping them pick out amazing prizes. We will have arts and crafts projects for them to take home and share with friends and family. These block parties will also give local businesses the opportunity to show their commitment to the neighborhood by connecting them with the attendees. The mission of these events is to help forge stronger relationships between law enforcement officers and our neighborhood communities. This could entertain all generations in an inviting way as well as provide many opportunities for the KDPS and booths to create positive connections with the people in the neighborhood.

The Pop-up Block Party is an event designed to connect youth through a sport carnival that allows for interactive play, conversations, meeting people, and organizations that serve the neighborhood, and to connect with police officers. This is an effort to provide Vine Neighborhood families with the directed opportunity to come together with their neighbors and local community for a day of fun.
