WELCOME TO UNITED WAY OF CLARION COUNTY'S 1ST BIG READ

United Way of Clarion County was selected to receive an NEA Big Read grant to bring our community together through the shared experience of reading and discussing Tim O’Brien’s The Things They Carried. The NEA Big Read is an initiative of the National Endowment for the Arts in partnership with Arts Midwest.

Through free books, community discussions, historical presentations, a documentary screening, writing workshops and other public events, we will explore themes of service, courage, memory, truth and storytelling.

Our goal is to honor veterans, encourage people to share and preserve their stories, and create meaningful connections across generations. As our nation commemorates America’s 250th anniversary, this program also invites us to consider how individual experiences become part of our shared history—and what we choose to carry forward together.

All events listed in this registration are free and open to the public. Please complete this form to reserve your place at one or more Big Read events.
