Carmel Christkindlmarkt Bier Competition Registration and Information Page

ATTN:  Indiana Pro & Home Brewers!  This is a unique competition designed to be fun and entertaining, while also awarding the best overall beer and food pairing.

> DATE & TIME:  Friday, Dec 16th, 6:00 Noon to 8:00 pm.


> ENTRY DELIVERY:  There are 2 Options for this, depending on whether the entrant wants to bring their entry to the competition the day of the event (be there by 5:15), or deliver their entry in advance (see notes below).  In either case, the judges will follow the serving notes and explanations that you include as part of your entry.  Only 1 entry per person or brewery!

> PRESENTATION:  Entrants should be creative with this and should include treats, food, garnishes, chocolates, cookies, cheeses, peppermint sticks, special glassware, props, etc. along with their beer entry.  Provide a "short" and clear written statement on what the beer is, and how to serve it (i.e. brief instructions for the presentation and pairing).  Using those instructions, entries will be presented to a panel of beer and food experts, while a Live audience watches.  Consider the entertainment factor and try to win over the judges from the start, but then the beer has to be great and the pairing has to be creative, and it has to work!

--- PRE-REGISTRATION OF ENTRIES:  You must register your beers here in advance.  Due to the format of this unique competition, we can only accept 15 entries!  Your goal is to impress the judges with a great beer, and then take it to another level with a fun food, snack, or treat pairing, as well as your use of spices, a garnish, etc.  Be Fun & Creative!  Entrants will be sorted and randomized for their order of presentation just before the competition.

> ENTRY DELIVERY:  If delivering your entry in advance, deliver to Ron Smith's home at 3793 Castle Rock Drive, Zionsville, IN, 46077 (in Long Branch Estates, off 116th St. between Michigan and Shelborne) anytime from Saturday, Dec 10 - Friday, Dec 16 by 2:00 pm.  Place it on the white bench on the front porch, then text Ron at 317-201-6535, to let him know it is there.

> ENTRY INFORMATION:  Any beer style is allowed (just try to make it festive).  You can enter as either a classic style, or add spices, herbs, vegetables, etc. to make it a unique version of that style, but balance, harmony, and drinkability should still be considered.  Refer to the BJCP beer style guidelines and other sources for the classic styles.  Provide your pairing and other materials, as well as your instructions for pairing and presentation, and your $10 entry fee (see below).

> ENTRANTS:  Any Pro or Home brewers can enter.  Only 15 entrants will be accepted this year.  Each entrant can only enter 1 entry (this may change to 2 later, if needed).

> REGISTRATION:  All entrants must register their entry here on this webpage, and then include their entry fee with their entry when delivered (or send electronically, see below).

> ENTRY FEE:  Include $10 in cash with your entry (the preferred method), or send $10 either via Paypal to RonSmith@MarketWiseSolutions.com or Venmo via @Ronald-Smith-350.

> AWARDS / PRIZES:  In addition to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place medals, there will be cash prizes as follows... 1st = $150,  2nd = $100,  3rd = $50.  Also, the 1st Place entrant will be declared “Der Marktbierkönig” or “Die Marktbierkönigin”
