Thanks for taking the time to share your input on improving Balcones Park! The purpose of this survey is to gather feedback from the community on design decisions that will shape the near and far future of our park.

In the next year and a half, Balcones District Park will get pool shade, a pavilion and a new, expanded playground. In order to implement these improvements, the city has asked us to create a Concept Plan for the park. This survey is looking for input about Balcones Park to make sure the Concept Plan created is the best one possible and meets our community's short and long term goals for Balcones Park. A Big Thank You to PARD Staff, Austin Parks Foundation, Neighborhood Partnering Program, and Council Member Leslie Pool for the funding and their support of Balcones Park! A Big Thanks to Neal Charles, Kim Gilbertson and Kristy Street - our 3 volunteer Landscape Designers who have already poured countless hours into this project!

After this survey is closed and responses are compiled, our 3 volunteer landscape designers will take the results and use them to create 2 concept plans for Balcones Park. Once those plans are created, we will hold another meeting to finalize which of the two plans Balcones Park users/residents most want and finally that chosen plan will be implemented for the 3 improvements listed below.

Balcones Park has been awarded $200,000 in Neighborhood Partnering Program (NPP) & Austin Parks Foundation (APF) grants and an additional estimated $300,000 in city funds to make these improvements:
1)      A shade canopy beside the pool will add shade and an extended pool deck for the Summer 2017 season.  The fabric shelter will be on the north side.  Picnic tables and seating will be covered by a 20’ by 30’ canopy over concrete pavement.
2)      A new, larger playground that is similar to other Austin district parks will expand the play opportunities for children of all ages.
3)      A pavilion near the playground to host gatherings under a shelter measuring approximately 30‘ by 40’.

This survey will take 5-10 minutes to complete. Thank you!
