The purpose of this survey is to prioritize the housing needs for people in Baker County who have behavioral health service needs.

Your voice and your time matter. This survey is meant to collect housing data from people who have behavioral health service needs or someone representing a person with behavioral health service needs. A separate survey is being conducted with community partners that serve people with behavioral health conditions. Both surveys end May 31, 2022.

For this survey we are using the following definitions:

1.      Behavioral health service need: A mental health and/or a substance abuse condition.
2.      Homelessness: Under the McKinney-Vento Act, “Lacking a fixed, regular, and adequate nighttime residence.” Homeless situations can include:
     a. Sharing the housing of others due to loss of housing, economic hardship, or a similar reason;
     b. Living in motels, hotels, trailer parks, or camping grounds due to the lack of alternative adequate accommodations;
     c. Staying in emergency or transitional shelters; or
     d. Sleeping in cars, parks, public spaces, abandoned buildings, substandard housing, bus or train stations, or similar settings.

What happens with your answers? The Baker County Behavioral Health Housing Task Force will prioritize the data and make housing recommendations based on your answers. A draft report will be shared with the city councils of Baker County and the Baker County Commissioners. A final report will be sent to the Oregon Health Authority so it can use the data for future behavioral health housing funding. The final report will be available on the New Directions Northwest website.

We hope all of our communities and the Oregon Health Authority will use this information as part of future housing policies, projects, and funding recommendations.

Thank you for being a part of this process!
