Apply to join a CC Action Team!

Thank you for your interest in serving on a Coordinating Committee (CC) Action Team! We have several open volunteer positions that need to be filled by passionate and dedicated members. 

We believe that those volunteering in these roles will benefit from the ability to shape the future of The Health Collaborative and our region, gain new leadership skills, and participate in various professional development opportunities.

Role of Action Teams:
In order to advance the major goals from the Coordinating Committee’s annual work plan, members of the CC will convene Action Teams made up of individuals with special skills or interest in the action team topic. Similar to the Coordinating Committee as a whole, these action teams will focus on process, structure, and governance, not content. Specific strategies for addressing our vision areas (active living, food justice, quality healthcare, and healthy spaces) will be developed within the chapters and their work groups.

To be successful each action team will need people with diverse skills, experiences, and perspectives, so we encourage anyone who is interested to apply!

2023 Action Teams will include:
Health Equity Policy & Advocacy
This action team will help THC better understand the roles of policy and advocacy in advancing health equity. They will develop a process for evaluating equity impacts in existing policies and for determining which policy issues are most important to local residents and THC partners. They will work to develop a policy agenda and to advocate for federal, state, local, and organizational policy changes that support health for all people in the Dan River Region. Recognizing that certain professional roles may limit some partners' ability to engage directly in policy work, the team will identify and provide learning opportunities that help everyone understand different advocacy methods.

Professional Development and Learning
This action team will develop a mechanism for identifying, prioritizing, and providing learning opportunities to chapters, community partners, and residents based on their needs and goals.

Marking and Communications
This action team will develop a clear messaging and communications plan for THC members and for the community that help us all articulate what we do, what we don’t do, our approach, the needs (including those outlined in the Health Equity Report) and the interconnectedness of our work across the region.

You may apply for multiple action teams, but will be asked to serve on no more than two.
