1. Introduction

In April 2017, several Board members attended Curling Canada's "Business of Curling" seminar in Winnipeg, which provided several strategies for improving the long-term financial sustainability of curling clubs across Canada.

Despite operating as a non-profit entity with a volunteer Board of Directors, AMCC's annual budget exceeds $300,000 - which definitely makes us a business! AMCC is in relatively good shape at the moment - but without attracting new business to our facility, it cannot remain sustainable in the long-term. Several Winnipeg facilities have ceased operations in recent years, as a direct result of failing to recruit new members, and lacking a sustainable long-term business plan to maintain their facilities.

One of the key ideas brought forward to AMCC members from this seminar during the 2017 AGM was a refresh of our club logo, as part of a long-term plan to ensure the financial viability of our facility. At that time, the Board committed to soliciting input from members on how to proceed with this activity. As the Board thought more about this process, it was decided to ask questions about more aspects of Club operations - the result is this survey.

Please keep in mind:
  • All questions with a "*" next to them require a response before you can proceed to the next page of the survey.
  • Use the "Next" and "Previous" buttons at the bottom of each page to navigate through the survey.
  • Only click the "Done" button on the last page of the survey once you have answered all questions.
  • Your responses are confidential - and if you do not provide a contact e-mail address and phone number, anonymous.
  • The results of the survey will provide valuable input to Board decisions, but are not binding in any way.
This survey takes an average of 20 minutes to complete (but may take longer if you decide to provide comments).

Hardcopy respondents: If you have any comments about anything not addressed in the remainder of this survey, please enter them on this page (or staple a separate sheet to your responses). Once your survey has been completed, you may drop it in the box provided in the Club Office (or slide under the door if it is locked).
