2026 YEP Project Youth Reference Group Application

About the YEP Youth Reference Group

What the Youth Reference Group involves:
  • As part of the YRG, you will meet every 2-3 months and the meetings will run for three hours. In these sessions, the group will provide feedback on YEP content and workshops and help inform our work!

Your commitment:
  • As a member of the YRG, you will need to be able to commit to attending a meeting every 2-3 months, ideally for a year minimum.
  • The meetings will be held on Wednesday evenings (subject to change) from 5pm to 8pm in Inner City Perth (location TBA closer to the date of each meeting), but online access is provided for those who cannot attend in person.
  • There may be opportunities to do additional small pieces of work outside the meetings, which will be paid.
We will aim to be as flexible as possible, giving you options to attend in person or participate online, and we will also be mindful of busy periods in your life, such as exams or cultural holidays.

What will you receive as part of the YRG?
  • As a member of our YRG, you will receive a $100 gift voucher per meeting that you attend. If you do any additional work, then we will reimburse you at a casual hourly rate.
  • You have the opportunity to inform our work and have your say on what's important/needed.
  • Food (typically pizza) and soft drinks will be provided, at the in person meeting.
  • We can also provide a certificate at the end of your work and you are able to list this role on your resume.
Eligibility
  • Be 16 to 25 years old (you can be a member until your 26th birthday)
  • Be able to commit to attending the sessions listed above
  • Be sex-positive and comfortable discussing topics around sexual health (no previous experience required)
  • Be a team player and willing and comfortable working in a group, and respecting others opinions that may be different to your own.
  • Be a critical thinker and can easily voice constructive feedback.
  • Have parent/guardian consent to participate if you are under the age of 18. (If you are 16 or 17 and are unable to gain this consent or you are living independently, please discuss this with us and we can discuss on a case by case basis).
