About the Award

The AMEC Media Award recognises excellence in journalism covering the Australian mineral exploration and mining industry. This award is made to the author of a report, article or series published online, as a video, an audio broadcast, or printed in Australian daily, weekly or monthly media in the preceding 12 months, which contributes to a wider understanding of the mineral exploration and mining industry and explores issues of importance to industry stakeholders.
Media is defined as:
  • Radio
  • Television
  • Article, video or audio online
  • Magazines (Print & Digital)
  • Newspapers
  • Journals

Note: the article must be an Australian online publication or written by an Australian journalist for a publication that is distributed in Australia.
Judging Criteria

The selection criteria on which items will be judged include:
  • Clarity
  • Relevance
  • The quality of research evident in each item
  • The level of impact on industry stakeholders
  • The overall contribution to the mining and mineral exploration industry
Proof of usage

With respect to digital content evidence must be tendered in support of entries as to the bona fides of that entry with respect to content, date to air, programme in which the material was used, hard copy of website material etc.

General Conditions of Entry

There are no limits to the number of different entries a nominator may submit, however a separate entry form (or photocopy thereof) must be completed and submitted with each entry.

Each submission must include the entry form plus supporting article, or electronic link.

Entries must reach the Association of Mining and Exploration Companies, Level 2, 1 Havelock, West Perth OR PO Box 948, West Perth WA, 6872, info@amec.org.au by 5.00pm AWST Friday 22 September 2023.

The judges’ decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.

The winners will be announced at the AMEC Awards Dinner on Thursday 30 November 2023 at Optus Stadium, Burswood, Western Australia.
