The Climate Action Plan Community Advisory Committee (CAC) is a group of community members that advise city staff on how to plan and implement the various initiatives needed to achieve the community’s climate action goals. The CAC meets on a quarterly basis and includes a mix of stakeholders that represent the triple bottom line (environment, economic, and social sustainability) to ensure multiple voices and perspectives are included in these conversations.
For 2019, staff is recruiting an additional 3-4 members to ensure a continued cross-section of residents, businesses, and other critical community stakeholders are engaged in this effort.
What does serving on the CAC entail? 1) A one-year commitment (2 years preferred) to serve on the committee is desired, and 2) Attend at least three of the four 2019 meetings. The meetings are held from 12-2:30 pm on the following days: February 7, May 30, August 22, and October 24. All meetings are held in a location in downtown Fort Collins. If you need childcare or translation services to participate, please note that in your application. 3) Approximately 2 hours of preparation before meetings, attendance at the meetings, and additional follow up as needed. Staff also sends a monthly email newsletter to CAC members. 4) Note, participating in the CAC does not require knowledge of the City’s climate action goals or a background in this space. Instead, we are hoping for community members who are passionate about collaborative decision making and how diverse stakeholder groups can come together and influence a triple bottom line approach to achieving these goals.
