INTRODUCTION
The Early Childhood Studies A/T/M  course is being redeveloped under the BSSS Humanities and Social Sciences Framework. This reflects the the discipline, expert recommendations, the tertiary pathway, and the BSSS policy to increase consistency of standards by reducing the number of Frameworks.

The Early Childhood Studies A/T/M course has been developed from the units of the Social and Community Work A/M/V 2016-2021 course that were focused on early childhood. This means that two courses have been developed out of the existing Social and Community Work course. They are distinct courses and students will be able to undertake both courses.

The course is not currently proposed for V accreditation, but there is a question in the survey about that matter. Advice on this course indicated that the requirements of the VET Training Package CHC30113 - Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care are too extensive for students to achieve in a school setting. However, a statement of attainment may be possible.

The draft Shape Paper provides the parameters for the course writing process. This includes the course structure, rationale and direction for the course developers in renewing the course. As such, the feedback provided through this survey on the Shape Paper will be used in redeveloping the course. All constructive advice will be carefully considered by the developers.

The Shape Paper is not the course document. It does not include the specific content to be included in each unit. This level of detail will be found in the course document, which will be released for public consultation after it is developed using advice conveyed through this survey.

The purpose of this questionnaire is to provide teachers an opportunity to provide feedback on the draft Shape Paper for the renewal of the BSSS Early Childhood Studies A/T/M  course.

You may provide feedback on the following:
• Background
• Proposed Aims
• Proposed Course Structure
• Proposed Unit Descriptions
• Considerations

Each section of the questionnaire requires responses on a rating scale to key statements with an opportunity to include comments that focus on suggestions for improvement.
