1. Call for expressions of interest-- Bering Sea Project "Open Science Meeting"

The Steering Committee of the “Bering Sea Project” (bsierp.nprb.org) is pleased to call for expressions of interest in an Open Science Meeting (OSM) that aims to:

• communicate research results of the 2007-2013 BEST-BSIERP Bering Sea Project
• engage the community working in related disciplines and regions

This OSM will welcome topics within the broad scope of the Bering Sea Project-- to "understand the impacts of climate change and dynamic sea ice cover on the eastern Bering Sea ecosystem"— as well as related work from disciplines not included in the program, other related research programs, and other subarctic regions.

The OSM is conceived as a one-day meeting featuring a series of integrated talks, held in association with the 2014 Ocean Sciences Meeting in Honolulu, Hawaii. The OSM is provisionally planned to open with a reception and poster session on Saturday evening, 22 February, followed by a full day of presentations on the Sunday (23 February) preceding the opening of Ocean Sciences conference.

To plan this Open Science Meeting we need to hear from you. Please take a minute to complete this brief survey to help us gauge interest and plan for your participation.

Thanks very much.

* 1. Are you likely to participate in the proposed Bering Sea "Open Science Meeting" held on the evening of 22 February and all day 23 February 2014 in Honolulu, Hawaii?

* 2. This Open Science Meeting is conceived to feature a series of ~30 minute talks that integrate over multiple disciplines and provide syntheses of our current understanding of how the Bering Sea and other subarctic ecosystems function. With this in mind, would you be likely to propose a talk for the Open Science Meeting?

* 3. We also envision a reception and poster session on 22 February 2014, the evening prior to the Open Science Meeting. The poster session would be the venue for communicating single-discipline or more specific topics (in contrast to the aim of integrated, synthetic talks during the oral presentations). With this in mind, would you be likely to propose a poster presentation?

* 4. If you are interested in this proposed Open Science Meeting and would like to attend, but answered "no" to the first question asking whether you'd be likely to attend... can you tell us why not? Check all that apply.

* 5. May we add you to a mailing list to keep you informed about the planning for this Open Science Meeting?

* 6. Please enter your current contact information.

* 7. Thanks very much for your participation in this survey. If you have any questions or additional comments, please include them here, or for faster response, email the program manager, Tom Van Pelt: tvanpelt@nprb.org
