Late MIT professor Peter S. Eagleson (1928-2021) is widely recognized as one of the founders of modern hydrologic science. Eagleson is remembered for creating an enduring, interdisciplinary paradigm for describing the dynamics of hydrologic processes and their role in the global climate system. His concepts continue to inform the modern study of global-scale hydrologic processes and established many of the foundational scientific principles of today’s atmospheric and climate modeling. He also advanced a new paradigm - now known as Ecohydrology – to study the dynamical links and co-evolution of vegetation and landscape water availability.  Join three of Professor Eagleson’s former proteges at MIT as they describe some of the key contributions by Peter S. Eagleson and discuss how these contributions became the origins of modern hydrologic science.
