Thank you for choosing to complete our survey. If you ride then falls go with the territory. Body protectors are required for may disciplines, and many riders wear them when riding but not competing. In addition, air jackets are increasingly worn with body protectors. There is however little information about use of body protector or body protector and air jacket use and fall or injury risk. The aim of the present survey is to collect data on recent falls (within the past 12 months) and to try and understand how body protector/air jacket use relates to injury.
The survey should not take more than 5-10 minutes to complete. Please note that all information which is collected about you during the course of the research will be kept securely. The survey is anonymous and collects no identifiable personal data about you, so that you cannot be recognised from it.
You will have the option to provide an email address to be entered into the prize draw to win a BODY PROTECTOR and HELMET worth over £400. Email's will not be shared with any third parties. You will also be asked at the end if we may contact you with further questions realting to this survey.
It is our intention to present the results at a relevant conference and publish them in an appropriate journal, as well as disseminate them wider audiences via lay articles. This survey is part of an AnimalWeb, Hartpury University and University of Lancashire research project. The research team comprises: Dr David Marlin, Dr Heather Cameron-Whytock, Dr Jane Williams and Dr Carmen Cummiskey.
