Eastern Bus Corridor - Alternative proposals
Kia ora, welcome! Thanks for taking the time to provide feedback.
Background
In June 2026, Wellington City Council and Metlink consulted on proposed improvements along the Eastern Bus Corridor. On 2 September 2026
, WCC Councillors approved the wider Eastern Bus Corridor Improvements project but deferred decisions on
11 proposed bus stop changes in Hataitai, Kilbirnie and Miramar
in response to community feedback.
Alternative proposals for these 11 bus stops have now been developed, and we are seeking feedback on them from
12–26 October 2026.
On 2 December 2026 at Te Takere | Regulatory Processes Committee, Councillors will consider this feedback and decide which changes to proceed with.
Proposed changes
To accommodate more frequent or longer buses, changes will include:
· making some stops longer
· removing or consolidating some stops to improve bus stop spacing and reduce journey times
· bus shelter changes
· kerb and line marking changes at some intersections so they can be safely used by longer buses.
The changes will make some bus stops more accessible. Buses will be able to lower to kerb height if needed, and drivers will be able to extend the ramp for wheelchair users.
