Blueprint 2030 is a plan to increase academic achievement and enhance the student experience. KCPS first introduced the Blueprint 2030 initiative in 2019, starting with an assessment and evaluation of our current system. Since then, KCPS and the Kansas City community have worked together to set goals, identify priorities, develop potential scenarios and more.
During this process, we have frequently heard our KCPS students deserve an education that will help prepare them to enter a competitive market. Whether they choose college or career, our students deserve the best. As we move towards 2030, our goal is to improve the student experience by enhancing existing programming, introducing new offerings and providing state-of-art facilities for all students.
Our proposed academic vision introduces students to STEAM (science, technology, engineering, the arts, mathematics), instrumental music, field trips aligned to curriculum, project-based learning, world languages and real-world learning. Our students deserve the best!
There are, of course, costs and tradeoffs associated with the enhanced academic vision. Some of the funding we need to make the vision a reality will be acquired through assessing our assets and making decisions about the future of some of our existing schools. As a result, some schools will be recommended for closure or consolidation to make room for the academic vision and the state-of-the-art facilities for our students.
