HCA Advocacy Through Art Project Registration |
Project Overview: The focus of the Advocacy through Art Project is to both prevent tobacco use and to educate youth to be community advocates, specifically focusing on tobacco industry marketing and how it impacts youth tobacco use. Youth will learn about the issues related to youth vaping, including impacts on health, and targeting marketing strategies used by tobacco companies. Youth will learn how policies play a role to make positive impact on health and individual behavior. Artwork will be promoted throughout the community and shared on social media once finished to increase community awareness.
Each Participant will:
- Will design their own art project and help develop promotion plans for finished artwork.
- Attend 3 training presentations on Tobacco/ Vaping Prevention, Tobacco Marketing, and Youth Advocacy.
- Complete an anonymous pretest and posttest at the first and last meetings
- Receive a certificate for participation
- Receive a raffle ticket for each project meeting attended, to be entered into a prize drawing during the last meeting
Week 1: October 2nd, 4:00-5:00pm Pretest, Tobacco 101 Training, Project Overview
Week 2: October 9th, 4:00-5:00pm Tobacco Marketing Training and Project Work
Week 3: October 16th, 4:00-5:00pm Youth Advocacy Training and Project Work
Week 4: October 23rd, 4:00-5:00pm Project Work and Promotional Plan
Week 5: October 30th, 4:00-5:00pm Finish Projects and Promotional Plans, Posttest
