CAPO Student Social (Pre-Conference): St. John’s Walking Tour & George Street Hangout
Join fellow CAPO students for a relaxed pre-conference evening exploring historic downtown St. John’s!
On Sunday, June 7, we’ll meet at 5 p.m. at the Sheraton Hotel Newfoundland (i.e., the conference hotel) and head out on a guided walking tour led by a local CAPO student who will take us through some of the city’s most iconic sights.
The walk will pass by several historic landmarks and scenic spots — including Bannerman Park, the Basilica of St. John the Baptist, and the colourful streets of Jelly Bean Row — with optional café stops along the way. The evening will wrap up near George Street, where anyone interested can stay to grab dinner and/or drinks and continue connecting with other CAPO students.
This is a great chance to meet other trainees, explore the city, and ease into the conference in a relaxed setting. The walk will take approximately 2 hours, followed by optional food and drinks nearby.
Note: St. John’s weather can be unpredictable! If conditions aren’t ideal, we’ll shift to an indoor alternative such as visiting The Rooms museum or gathering at a local pub and keep you posted.
