A Business Improvement District (BID) is a defined area within which property owners pay an additional annual assessment to provide services that benefit the district. These services are in addition to those already provided by the municipality. The BID can accomplish such things as public capital improvements, sidewalk and street cleaning, public areas beautification, sidewalk snow removal, visitor and tourism public services, security services, or BID area marketing and promotion. An example of a Business Improvement District is the Anchorage Downtown Improvement District that is operated by the Anchorage Downtown Partnership.

The Anchorage Community Development Authority is exploring the feasibility of forming a Midtown Improvement District. No decisions have been made to proceed with a BID in midtown at this time.

Your feedback through this survey will help policymakers and property owners better understand if there is an interest or need for a BID in Midtown.
