The Queensland Government has developed a discussion paper “Better Mine Rehabilitation for Queensland” for public consultation.
The discussion paper presents a proposed mine rehabilitation policy and six delivery elements that together form an integrated mined land management framework.
The paper was developed in response to results from a recent review into the State's financial assurance system and community concerns about the quality and quantity of mine site rehabilitation under existing arrangements. A lack of rehabilitation increases the risk of financial and environmental impacts to the State and the community.
We invite you to take this survey on the discussion paper to help us finalise the policy and ensure transition and implementation is as smooth as possible.
