  • Extension of Family Violence leave to 20 days per annum (from 15 days).
  • 5 days pre-natal leave for attending appointments associated with assisted reproduction (eg IVF, egg donation, insemination), pregnancy and adoption.
  • 12 weeks paid leave for surrogacy (6 weeks prenatal, 6 weeks postnatal where the employee is the surrogate.)
  • Additional 5 days paid personal leave in the event of a termination or miscarriage after 20 weeks of pregnancy, or the stillbirth or death of a child.
  • Documented commitment to current practice of paying superannuation on paid parental leave.
  • Special paid leave for employees who identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islanders to undertake significant cultural or kinship obligations or to undertake voluntary activities.
  • Study leave to be extended to include online studies (currently only available for class, lecture, tutorial, exam attendance) and increasing the cap for financial assistance for studies from $3,000 to $4,000 per annum.
  • Ability to cash out excess annual leave subject to the employee maintaining an annual leave balance of 4 weeks.

A high number of claims are not agreed, with an initial priority list being collated in member meeting on 19 September. We now seek members confirm your priorities as we enter into the last few weeks of finalising your next EA. Please complete the survey and send on the link to others in your work area.

Results will assist in our efforts to make Council a better place to work by enabling us to develop a log of claims that represents the needs of members.
