Nonpoint Source Implementation Strategy Planning

Thank you for choosing to take this survey to help achieve water resource goals in the Black Brook subwatershed. This watershed covers parts of Mantua Township, Troy Township, and Auburn Township.

The basic goals of these plans are to improve water quality in each watershed through activities like improving stormwater management, stabilizing eroding streambanks, and restoring and protecting wetlands and riparian (stream-side) areas. These types of projects are fundable through certain types of state and federal funding, but they must be included in an approved nonpoint source implementation strategy plan (NPS-IS) plan to be eligible. This survey is intended to obtain feedback on potential locations for restoration and protection opportunities to develop into fundable projects to be included in the NPSIS plans.

If you have any data, surveys, or photos that would be useful for developing this watershed plan, please send to Alicia Beattie at abeattie@crwp.org or call 440-975-3870 ext. 1003. This could include flooding, erosion, or water quality data, habitat evaluations, bird, fish, or wildlife surveys, or other information. If you have photos, please include a brief description, location, and date taken.

This survey was prepared by Chagrin River Watershed Partners, Inc. using federal funds under award NA18NOS4190096 from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, U.S. Department of Commerce through the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, Office of Coastal Management. The statements, findings, conclusions, and recommendations are those of the author(s) and do not necessarily reflect the views of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, U.S. Department of Commerce, Ohio Department of Natural Resources, or the Office of Coastal Management. Question Title

* 2. What do feel are key issues affecting the water quality of Black Brook, smaller streams, and wetlands in the watershed?

Question Title

* 3. Are there any particular projects that should be developed that would improve water quality and reduce nutrients, eliminate impairments, or restore impaired stream segments? If so, please provide the location (coordinates, address / parcel etc.) and description. Coordinates may be obtained by clicking a point on Google Maps.

Question Title

* 4. Are there any areas in the watershed that would benefit from stream restoration, riparian restoration (native plantings and invasive species control), or dam removal/modification? Please provide the location and a site description.

Question Title

* 5. Are there any wetland habitats that should be restored or renaturalized? For example, a wetland area may be degraded through invasive species domination and/or past land uses such as farming, mowing, or draining. Please provide the location and a site description.

Question Title

* 6. Are there any stormwater management projects to improve water quality that would be beneficial in this watershed? Examples include large public rain gardens, pocket wetlands to treat stormwater flower prior to discharge to a stream, permeable pavement, or bioretention. Please provide the location and a site description.

Question Title

* 7. Are there any areas that should be targeted for large scale reforestation efforts or mitigation of tree pests and diseases? Please provide a location and site description.

Question Title

* 8. Is there a property or specific type of habitat (e.g. wetlands, stream resources) that you would like to see protected and put into permanent conservation? If you suggest specific locations, please provide the location and a site description.

Question Title

* 9. Are you interested in protecting or restoring water resources (such as a streambank stabilization project) on your own property? If so, please describe.

Question Title

* 10. Is there a park or other location where you would like to see more trails for hiking or biking?

Question Title
