The mission of the Arkansas Minority Barber & Beauty Shop Health Initiative is to increase public awareness about heart disease and stroke. The goal is to empower minorities to better understand hypertension prevention and management. The event will take place on SATURDAY, APRIL 8, 2017 at participating sites in Pulaski Counties.
Each site will have a designated Health Team consisting of the following: a Captain, Nurse, Nursing/Medical student, Nutritionist/Dietitian or Certified Health Educator, Tobacco (Stamp out Smoking) representative, AR Saves representative, Registration volunteer, Runner, Nurse Practitioners and a Doctor on Call. Most sites will have more than one Health Team.
All volunteers MUST BE ABLE to attend a mandatory training that will be held in the Main Auditorium at the Arkansas Department of Health located at 4815 West Markham Street, Little Rock, AR 72205.
