Barnegat Bay Blitz

A Watershed-Wide Cleanup

June 3, 2016

The Barnegat Bay Blitz is a watershed-wide initiative to help clean up Barnegat Bay. Since our first Blitz in 2011, 22,342 volunteers have cleaned up 2477 cubic yards of trash and recyclables from all over the 660 square mile watershed. Through a partnership with the American Council of Engineering Companies of New Jersey (ACECNJ) we have also tackled numerous technical and scientific projects such as Lake & Habitat Assessments and Land Surveying of Stormwater Outfalls. This year we are piloting a new volunteer opportunity for industry professionals with a focus on the Barnegat Bay’s Coastal Wetlands. The goal of this effort is to help pilot our new visual assessment and data collection protocol designed to quickly assess the health of our wetlands.

Employees of ACECNJ member companies have the skills and resources needed to make the Barnegat Blitz even better and we hope you will join us for a day of productive fun!

If you are interested in participating in the pilot of visual shoreline assessment, please fill out our survey at  https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/BBBshorelinepilot
