ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS (Knowledge, Skill, Experience)
-Current Certification of Competence as a Registered Practical Nurse with the Ontario College of Nurses.
-RPN Diploma preferred.
-Current BCLS certification.
-Recognized OR course from a Community College or equivalet
-Minimum 2 years current OR experience (within the past 3 years)
-Minimum 1 year recent surgical experience (within the past 3 years)
-Knowledge of the principles of asepsis.
-Computer Skills - Intranet, Microsoft Office, Care Manager, STAR, Solcom, Risk
Monitor Pro.
-Practice level consistent with the full scope of practice as outlined by the College
of Nurses of Ontario, which includes but is not limited to:
-Evidence of the successful, administration and management of blood &
blood products
-Evidence of the successful completion and/or practice in processing physician
orders, administration of oral, subcutaneous, IM, suppository, aerosol and
IV medications, venipuncture and IV initiation and management
-Demonstrated adherence to the expectations of nursing practice at CKHA
-Member of RPNAO preferred
-Satisfactory Attendance
