The Community Action Board’s Community Advocacy Institute (formerly the Leadership Development Institute) will provide you with the opportunity to learn basic advocacy skills along with hands-on opportunities to utilize those skills to advocate for important issues in your community.

* 5. The third workshop in the CAI program will focus on key issues impacting the County.  The Board would like your help in selecting the issues for discussion at this workshop.  Please list the key issues impacting your community.

* 6. The goal of the CAI program is to train Montgomery County residents who might not otherwise have this opportunity. Please confirm that your household income is $54,000 or less.

The Community Advocacy Institute requires a substantial time commitment: an orientation on Oct. 12 from 6 – 8 pm; workshops from 10 am – 2 pm on Nov. 4, Dec. 2, Jan. 6, Feb. 3, March 3; a testimony practice session on March 24 from 12 - 2 pm, advocacy opportunities in April; and a wrap-up session on April 28 from 12 - 2 pm.  A graduation ceremony will be held during the Community Action Awards on May 22 at 6 pm.
