Music Data and Insights Summit (MDIS) 2027:
Expression of Interest for Presentations

The Victorian Music Development Office (VMDO) invites submissions of academic papers and general music-orientated presentation proposals for the third Music Data and Insights Summit (MDIS). MDIS will be held in Melbourne on May 24th and 25th, 2027.

MDIS is Australia's industry gathering that explores the current trends, research and data shaping the Australian music industry.

MDIS focuses on a range of topics, from the impact of streaming, live music and consumer behaviour to workforce skills. Of particular interest are subjects which drive innovation and/or inform policy-making platforming a diversity of experiences around how music is distributed, discovered and made in Australia.

Submissions must clearly indicate alignment with current music industry issues, challenges and opportunities. Submissions are welcome in draft form or as working ideas that can be developed in partnership with the curation team.

Submissions will be reviewed by the curatorial team and notified no later than late February 2027. Invited presenters will be offered travel support and/ or a minimum speaker fee of $250 per person for presentations over 30 mins.

In 2027, MDIS will also introduce new 15 min "pop-up" sessions. The program will allow the opportunity to present ideas / research or work in a engaging and fast snapshot format. Just select the 15 min option if this is your preferred format.

For those who wish to propose multiple ideas or research papers, please complete one EOI for each paper.

Submissions must be received no later than 5pm 12 FEBRUARY 2027 to be considered for MDIS 2027. You are welcome to submit at any time until then.
