Welcome

Emergency Assistance is available to assist families who have had a loss of income due to lay-off, reduced hours, or other reason, due to the coronavirus pandemic.

For eligible households, up to $750 is available to help pay your rent or mortgage.

Am I eligible?
Assistance is available to Tribal citizens whose households have had a reduction in income, due to lay-off, reduced hours, or other reason, due to the coronavirus pandemic.

If your household has NOT had a reduction in income, you are probably NOT eligible. We are trying to get these dollars to families who have been most effected, financially, by the pandemic.

What is the assistance?
Assistance, up to $750, is provided by mailing a payment to your landlord or mortgage company.

How Do I apply?
1. Fill out the application, attaching a copy of your lease or mortgage payment information. We will ask you information on your income, household size, and your employment situation as well as for an electronic copy (photo or scan) of your mortgage statement or rental agreement. All information is used only for the assistance determination and will be kept strictly confidential.

2. Sign or type your name.

How long does it take to find out if I will get assistance?
We hope to process applications within 1 week or less.

Are there any restrictions?
Yes, assistance is limited to households in the 5-County Service Area. (Del Norte, Curry, Coos, Humboldt, & Josephine counties) HUD funding is tied to the Tribal population in these counties, so we can only assist citizens in those same counties, with this funding

Also, payments to related parties are allowed with conditions: lease is for premises at a separate location, & was in place prior to Jan. 1, 2020.

Funding is limited: we currently have funding to assist 125 families, with one-time payments of up to $750.

What about the 5 year waiting period?
The 5-year waiting period is waived and does not apply to this coronavirus emergency assistance. All citizens, regardless if you have had other emergency housing assistance recently, are eligible to apply.
