If your library can reach people who don't regularly read for pleasure or have access to books, you can apply to receive books to giveaway on World Book Night 2026 (23 April).

Please read the following guidance before applying:

For 2026, applications are open to statutory public libraries only. We will accept one application per authority, so please liaise internally before applying. If we receive more than one application, we will ask contact applicants to confirm which application should progress.

We want to see you work in partnership with local organisations to reach target audiences who don't regularly read, and to introduce them to the library. This can be existing or new partnerships. You must provide details for the partner organisations for evaluation purposes.

These books are intended for adult audiences and some contain content that is not suitable for younger readers. Content warnings have been provided at worldbooknight.org/books. If you have any queries, please email worldbooknight@readingagency.org.uk.

Books are not allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. Take your time to complete and submit your application.

Books will delivered in early April 2026. Specific delivery information will be provided closer to the time. We will not be able to ensure the books arrive on a specific time/day, so please provide a delivery address where books are most likely to be received.

Applications are open until Monday 2 February 2026.
