Between December of 2014 and September 2015, the Vermont Farm & Forest Viability Program (VFFVP) is organizing and conducting a professional development project for agricultural service and capital providers across the New England states of Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine, and Massachusetts in order to increase their ability to educate and assist farm and food business owners in accessing appropriate capital, business and financial management, and marketing assistance.

Over the next 18 months, and in partnership with The Carrot Project and other organizations throughout the region, VFFVP will organize and host training events for professionals across the farm business support and financing spectrum, from agricultural service providers to traditional lenders and those seeking to provide innovative new financing.

The goal is for these professionals to have access to training opportunities that will:
-Increase their ability to provide farm and food businesses with business and financial management, and marketing assistance
-Improve their understanding of the breadth of financing options
-Increase their competency in helping entrepreneurs to develop and use business plans, to develop their pitch and tell their story, and to secure appropriate financing.

In order to put together high-quality events across the northeast region, we would like to know more about your professional development needs and current knowledge level. In order to ensure that these training events are useful to all who attend (avoiding scenarios where half the room is in over their head and the other half is unchallenged), it’s invaluable for us to understand the differing capacities and varying levels of familiarity among potential attendees with regard to business, financial, and marketing planning, and accessing capital.
