Building Representative Boards Program |
Board Candidate Participant Application
CEN is excited to announce the launch of our new Building Representative Boards program this fall!
This is the application for individuals interested in participating in this program to explore nonprofit board service. For nonprofits that are interested in recruiting new board candidates, please email tarryl@cen.org and we'll follow up with more information in the coming months.
Why join Building Representative Boards? Too often, when organizational readiness is not addressed, we’ve all seen how programs designed to increase board diversity ultimately cause harm and/or tokenize participants and newly-seated board members. This program centers individuals and community leaders, like you, that are interested in exploring nonprofit board service and bringing their lived experience into the board room. We intentionally engage with nonprofit organizations that are committed to fostering inclusive board cultures as they seek to connect with diverse individuals that reflect the communities served. Participating nonprofits also receive training that is rooted in IDEAL (inclusion, diversity, equity, access, and liberation) principles and must be able to demonstrate their readiness to engage diverse board candidates and diminish cultures and practices that have historically done harm.
