Older Adult Question, Persuade, Refer (QPR) is a brief, evidence-based suicide prevention training that teaches participants how to recognize warning signs of suicide and respond effectively. Often referred to as the “CPR of suicide prevention,” QPR provides practical skills to ask directly about suicide, offer support, and connect someone to help.
This training highlights suicide risk among older adults and explores factors such as isolation, loss, chronic pain, and life transitions that may increase vulnerability. Participants learn how to have compassionate conversations, recognize warning signs that may look different later in life, and connect older adults to supportive services and community resources.
