YouMatter run workshops with thousands of young people in schools, youth clubs and other community settings in Jersey every year. We aim to build young people's self-esteem and confidence and to inspire and equip them to make positive choices about their lives and relationships.
.
Our key areas of work are:
.
- Self-Esteem and Confidence - Positive Relationships - Decision-making Around Sex - Sexually Transmitted Infections, including HIV and AIDS - Child Sexual Exploitation (CSE) Prevention - Sexting and Staying Safe Online - The Impact and Effects of Pornography - Alcohol, Drugs Misuse and Staying Safe - Supporting Positive Parenting
.
In the 2018/2019 academic year, we are planning to run a series of sessions for parents and carers around some of the subjects that we cover with young people, and also some areas specific to parents and carers.
We would love some feedback from parents and carers to inform how we plan and deliver these sessions. We'd love to know which topics you'd like us to cover and how you'd like the sessions to run. We'd also like to know what your biggest worries and concerns are around talking to your children/young people (we will use the term child/children, but this can be any child/young person you are involved in caring for), and how you feel we can support you in having these important conversations.
