Businesses have a particular interest in drone technology because not only are they users of drones, but also manufacturers.  Agencies such as DHS, FEMA, USDA, DoD, HHS (CDC, FDA), DOE, DOT, NRC, and many others have a need for drone technology to support their mission.  Drones are replacing stationary connected sensors and using them to deploy to multiple locations, re-program their missions while in flight, and measure multiple functions.  Drones could provide immediate situational awareness and real time tracking.  The new FAA rules are a good first step, but the agency must keep up with galloping technological advances and be more responsive in real-time to operators and possesses a barrier to drone growth and development.

Approaching this forum from the Internet of Things concept, what are the needs of current agencies, i.e., how could they use drones to support their mission; what are the Agency current challenges? What are the current FAA rules/regulations as it relates to drones and where are they heading? Include a panel discussion of drone firms and industry with a moderator to discuss pre-identified questions and/or consider breakout working groups to discuss their suggested solutions back to government.
