November 15th ACE PD

Engaging students in the 21st Century

Millenials, Xennials, Boomers, Gen Zed – there are countless articles and research on how each new generation looks at the world of work and how to effectively connect with them. But what if your student body doesn’t fit in a neat little box? With Gen Zed now entering post-secondary, how do we effectively communicate with a student and employer population that spans generations? What can we learn from research on generational differences to enhance our relationships with our diverse student stakeholder group?

Join us on November 15th to find out! We’ll open with a keynote address from SFU's Darelle Odo, who will then facilitate a discussion with a student panel from various areas of WIL to tell us about their experiences in work integrated learning. We will then end the day with a sharing of best practices on student engagement!

Keynote Speaker: Darelle Odo, SFU Business Co-op Coordinator, MBA, CPHR

Description: A growing majority of undergraduate students today are Generation Z, born from 1995 - 2010. Are you curious about what has shaped Gen Z and what makes them tick? To learn more about this new cohort of students and how to best serve them, please join us for a 1 hour workshop. This interactive workshop will cover Gen Z's traits, beliefs, trends, preferences and attitudes towards education and work. Please bring an internet enabled device so that we can do some live polling. Looking forward to a lively discussion!
