Our Elective Class Conference is a fun and flexible opportunity for all Atlanta Habitat program participants to come together, connect, and learn in a relaxed and engaging setting. Participants can choose from a variety of upbeat, hands-on elective classes designed to inform, inspire, and recharge, making learning feel less like a requirement and more like a celebration. Join us for dinner and a chance to win a $75 Kroger gift card! Check below to learn about what each class will cover, and register for the class that interests you most. Dinner will be served from 6:00 - 7 pm. Thursday, August 20; 6:00 - 8:30 p.m. These elective classes are open to all program participants and will be held in person at the Atlanta Habitat main office. Program participants will receive TRIPLE sweat equity for attending. You will receive an email reminder approximately 3-5 days before the event is scheduled to occur.

Participants will learn practical couponing and smart shopping strategies that stretch household budgets without sacrificing quality. The session will focus on planning purchases, maximizing savings, reducing unnecessary spending, and creating sustainable shopping habits that support long-term financial wellness.
Preserve What You Grow: Canning for Cost Savings & Sustainability

This hands-on class introduces participants to the basics of home canning and food preservation. Homeowners will learn safe preservation techniques, proper storage methods, and how preserving seasonal produce can reduce food waste, lower grocery costs, and provide healthy food options throughout the year.
Homegrown: Gardening for the Smart Homeowner

Participants will discover practical gardening techniques that make growing fresh food achievable, even in limited spaces. The class will explore beginner-friendly gardening methods, planning a home garden, maintaining healthy plants, and how growing your own food contributes to healthier lifestyles, sustainability, and household savings.
