Introduction

More than 1 in 3 children in the U.S. are overweight or obese. At the same time, close to 16 million children live in a food-insecure household, where they are without consistent access to food. Afterschool programs play an important role in promoting healthy lifestyles for youth. Many afterschool and summer learning programs offer youth an array of  physical activities and serve healthy snacks while emphasizing the value of a nutritious diet through hands-on education.

The Afterschool Alliance is collaborating with Share Our Strength to survey afterschool providers about the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) At-Risk Afterschool Meals. Please complete this brief survey to help the Afterschool Alliance better understand the barriers to providing afterschool snacks and meals. This is a follow-up survey to a survey conducted two years ago intended to gauge afterschool snack and/or meals participation. The Afterschool Alliance's efforts to increase afterschool and summer meal participation are made possible in part by the generous support of the Food Research and Action Center and the ConAgra Foods Foundation.

This survey should be completed by someone with direct experience working on the afterschool meal program in your organization. It should take no more than 15 to 20 minutes to complete. For current CACFP At-Risk Afterschool Meals sponsors, we suggest accessing your October 2015 claim data before starting. Any public release, reports, or data sharing will be in the aggregate and will not be tied to a specific survey respondent or organization.

DEADLINE EXTENDED! Please complete this survey no later than 11:59 p.m. EST, April 22, 2016.
