The Adelante Caiman scholarship was established to support immigrant students who strive to get ahead and onwards with their educational ambitions but are unable to obtain federal or state financial support to make those goals a reality. These students embody the spirit of the American dream: overcoming many barriers, working hard to repay their parents’ sacrifices, and often being the first of their family to go to college. With the rising costs of a postsecondary education, lack of access to federal and state financial aid (including federal loans) can often prove to be an insurmountable obstacle to many. As UF Hispanic-Latinx alumni, we hope this scholarship provides support to the next generation to surpass the challenges of today in the same way that many alumni have overcome the challenges of our time. The Adelante Caiman scholarship will award two deserving students $1,500 each attending the University of Florida.
