Rep. Acomb Gun Violence Prevention Survey

Dear neighbor,

We’ve seen far too many school shootings and acts of gun violence in this past year, all across our country and in our state. In June, the political assassination of my friends, Melissa and Mark Hortman, and the shooting of John and Yvette Hoffman, in August, the tragic shooting at Annunciation Church and School, in September, the political assassination of Charlie Kirk, and this December, another school shooting at Brown University. According to the Gun Violence Archive, to date there have been 393 mass shootings in 2025, defined as shootings involving multiple deaths or injuries.

We cannot continue to accept this as our "new normal" and we must take action to address these weapons of war and keep our children and communities safe.

In Minnesota, conversations are underway at the State Capitol to find a way forward, together, because that’s the only way this work can be done. I want to check in with you and our community about what can be done in the 2026 Legislative Session to address gun violence in our state. Thank you for taking the time to fill out this survey, and making your voice heard on this important issue.

Sincerely,
Patty Acomb
State Representative
