2022-2023 Student Leadership Contract

Serving as a member of the Student Leadership Team is an honor and a responsibility. As a member of this team, you must strive to be a person that pursues Christ, exhibits maturity, serves willingly, and strives to grow in wisdom.  With those attributes in focus, here are specific items that are expected of student leaders. Please prayerfully consider these items before applying for membership to this team.

o   Relationship with God:
I promise my personal relationship with God is the number one priority in my life. I seek to grow in my relationship with Christ daily, surround myself with Christians who will challenge me in my faith, and either have or will find a spiritual mentor and accountability partner.

o   Godly Lifestyle:
As a student leader, I understand how I live my personal life affects my ability to have influence with other people. I promise to remain sexually pure. I promise to abstain from items that do not honor God including, but not limited to the use of profanity, gossip and negative talk, inappropriate use of texting and social media, alcohol, tobacco, drugs, and pornography.

o   Attend Student Leadership Team Meetings:
I commit to attend Student Leadership Team meetings and functions. If I have a conflict that is unavoidable, I promise to notify a student ministry staff member.

o   Consistent Involvement at Abilene Baptist Church:
As a student leader, I understand the importance of attending, serving, and giving at a local church. I do, and will continue to, regularly attend Abilene Baptist Church including Sunday School, worship services, and student ministry functions.

o   Personal Development:
I realize that the Student Leadership Team is focused on my development as a leader. Therefore, I commit to doing the work and serving in the tasks assigned to me. It will involve levels of sacrifice, humility, and graciousness. Assignments and tasks may include, but are not limited to, reading books, watching videos, giving book presentations, blogging/journaling, etc.

o   Team Dynamics:
I will collaborate with other team members in a positive and respectful manner. I will never talk negatively about others, so when conflict arises, I will commit to working out issues in a biblical manner as found in Matthew 18. Members of the Student Ministry staff should be consulted if resolution cannot occur otherwise.

o   Areas of Service:
I understand that I will be asked to serve in a variety of roles on both Sunday morning and Wednesday night, as well as for various church events. Duties include, but are not limited to welcoming & greeting, working checking-in, serving guests, supporting events, taking photos & videos, creating content, and even serving on-stage when needed.

o   Probation, Suspension, and Dismissal:
We do not believe that anyone is perfect. However, we do believe that Christians should strive to lead a blameless life. If a Student Ministry Staff Member addresses an issue in your life either with your lifestyle or your inability to attend meetings, you will be asked to make necessary changes. If you are unable to repent and/or correct the issues, you may be placed on probation, suspension, or even dismissed from the team.
