Course Description:
LinkedIn is the world's largest professional network. In this practical course you’ll get an introduction to LinkedIn, understand how it works, and learn how to use it to present yourself to a professional audience.

This workshop will be a mix of need-to-know knowledge and practical skills. You’ll find out how to take control of your online presence, and then get hands on setting up and building your profile.

Craig Steele is a computer scientist, educator, published author, and creative technologist, who helps people develop digital skills in a fun and creative environment. His company, Digital Skills Education, develops and delivers exciting projects across Scotland and internationally.

Who is this course for?
This course is for freelance film & TV practitioners who work in all departments, at all levels. It will be particularly useful for people who want to improve how they present their credits, skills, experience and availability online, and who want to feel more confident using LinkedIn as part of their professional life.

The course is suitable for everyone – whether you’ve already tried out LinkedIn or are brand new. This is a chance to think about how you can use it as a tool for making new professional contacts, sharing more about your work, or looking for new job opportunities

Eligibility:

This session is specifically for established film and television practitioners based in Scotland. Please only apply if you meet this criteria. BECTU opportunities for those in other areas of the UK can be found here:
England, Wales.

• Applicants should be based and working freelance in film and television in Scotland.

• Students are not eligible for this training.

Selection:

• As this is a workshop style course, there are a limited number of spaces available to allow participants the opportunity to interact and ask questions.
• Places will be given to those who demonstrate the greatest professional need for this training with eligible Bectu members receiving priority for places.
• Places are provided free of charge but are worth a considerable amount. Please only apply if you can commit to attending the session.

• The training will take place in Glasgow.
• Access requirements can be arranged for those selected.
• If selected, we can support participants with travel costs for those based out-with Scotland.
