The ALICE award has been created to recognise and celebrate a Dementia Australia team, or staff member, who best demonstrate the ALICE principles in the way they work with people living with dementia, their carers and families.
Background
In 2023 Dementia Australia's Consumer Engagement Framework: A Stronger Voice Together was launched. The Framework is attached to the email for your reference.
A Stronger Voice Together commits all Dementia Australia staff to engaging meaningfully with people impacted by dementia and was co-designed by people living with dementia, carers and staff.
The Framework has five principles:
- Authentic
- Living experience based
- Inclusive
- Collaborative
- Empowering
These principles form the acronym ALICE.
Who can nominate
A Dementia Advocate nominates a Dementia Australia staff member or team for this award by completing this survey form.
Who can NOT be nominated for this AWARD?
Please note, the staff responsible for the Dementia Advocates Program including the Consumer Engagement Coordinators, National Manager Dementia Advocates Program and the General Manager Consumer Engagement are not eligible for this award. This is because genuine and meaningful involvement of people living with dementia, their families and carers is core business for this team.

Who can be nominated
We are looking for nominations for teams and staff members outside the Dementia Advocates Program, to recognise and celebrate teams or individuals who, from your perspective, make a real difference when working with you.
How the winner will be selected
The Dementia Australia Advisory Committee (DAAC) will then review all nominations and recommend a winner to the Executive Team for approval. The winner will be announced at the end of year All Staff meeting.
